Blessington Road - McWilliams Bridge
Project Location: McWilliams Bridge – Construction
Project Budget: $2,200,000
Status: Public Consultation
Project Details:
A detailed design has been completed to have the McWilliams Bridge replaced. The structure was originally constructed circa 1950, was widened (to the current configuration) in 1991 and then was further rehabilitated (including the addition of the steel flex beam) in 1999. Based on an inspection of the structure carried out by HP Engineering, it was concluded that the structure is generally in fair to poor condition overall. The bridge has experienced further deterioration, underwent an emergency repair in December of 2022, and is nearing the end of its service life. The need to have the structure replaced was confirmed with Ontario Structure Inspection Manual (OSIM) reviews completed in 2020 and 2021.
A Public Consultation Centre has been planned to gather opinion and feedback on the option to close Blessington Road to traffic or maintain a single lane of traffic with the use of temporary traffic signals during construction.

Construction of the replacement structure is anticipated to take place in summer 2025.
